The self-proclaimed Head Cash Cow – Steven Greenway!

As hard as the entire  Scoot family can work at getting our airline up and running, and at keeping it running once it is up, nothing will be possible if we cannot sustain ourselves financially. And the man responsible for that is none other than Steven Greenway, Scoot’s Head of Commercial, who’s got so much experience behind him that we think ‘low-cost’ is now part of his genetic makeup.

Here is the man himself….

1. How would you explain what you do in 99 words or less?

I am Head of Commercial, a function that is essentially responsible for generating the airline’s revenue – everything we do is focused on this key outcome.  I am responsible for planning, marketing, ancillary revenue, product, sales and distribution.  It’s a broad, challenging portfolio, but it’s something I love.

2. What were you up to before Scoot became part of your life?

I was a Partner in an airline advisory firm for over 4 years working on a broad range of assignments including airline start-ups and turnarounds.  I was fortunate enough to work in geographically diverse areas like Eastern Europe, the Middle East, the Philippines and most recently Japan.

3. What made you want to join the Scoot Family?

It’s not often you get the chance to work on an airline start-up, especially one backed by an airline as successful as Singapore Airlines.  Plus I’ve always wanted to live in Asia, especially Singapore.  It was a perfect combination!

4. How has it been since you moved to Singapore?

I’ve been working pretty well non-stop since I’ve got here but loving it – Singapore is so easy to get yourself settled.  Everything works, people are helpful and I’m loving the food … I’m slowly making my way through all the key Hawker markets!  I think I’ve also mostly adjusted to the humidity as well … It’s a killer when you first move here.

5. What would we find in your refrigerator right now?

Since I am living the bachelor life at the moment not much – From memory OJ, yogurt, some take-out leftovers (I think it is starting to smell) and some bottles of Tiger.  I pretty well eat out except for breakfast.  I think I need to go on a health streak!

He’s even started using the word ‘lah’ in his daily talk. Much thanks, Steven!

I like this Steven guy. All the best, Steven. I am sure you will lead Scoot to becoming a huge commercial success. That seems to be the usual you lah!

I tried to register myself on your website, but it wouldn’t proceed after I filled in all the fields and clicked the “Agree with terms…” and then the “Submit” button. That’s not a good beginning for me.

I’m looking forward to be your customer, as we have 2 kids in Oz and travel there fairly regularly. Hopefully, if Scoot gives good value and service, you’ll get our business.

I cannot register via your website – it won’t accept the entries, although all are correctly filled.

Also you have to give a longer time – your timeout is too short.

  4. it was greatly riveting to look over your blog, I want to reproduce your post in my blog. It can ? And you et an account on Twitter?

great news. I’m definitely going to fly from Sydney. Will you also fly to dubai? What about Karachi. I know not many airlines travel to Karachi now.

Happy to see your new company set up.

  7. Hi Steve. It’s a while since we last had contact – SkyEurope actually!. Just before they went belly up, we were looking at helping you to leverage some additional revenues from the call centre using pan-European revenue generative telephone numbers. Not sure this approach would work across your APA markets but its certainly a possibly in Australia and NZ. Anyway, that’s not all we provide and we have since worked with American Airlines, Air Arabia, easyJet, Etihad, germanwings, Jet4you, SAS, Sabre, Travelport, Virgin Blue and Wizzair etc, to set up systems that manage sales and customer enquiries proficiently. With the launch of Scoot flights scheduled mid-year it may be opportune to see if we can apply our experience to help Scoot as well. Some examples of projects can be seen on our webpage and I am happy to call you whenever you are available. Cheers, Jonathan

Well done to another Aussie. Hope everything goes off really well and hopefully we will get a chance to utilise your airline, being on pension, I look forward to any discount fares we can access. Look forward to reading more as the time to launch gets closer. Keep up the great work and love it that the company has employed Aussies.
    Regards
