Say Hello to our Chief Pilot: Capt Rohan

Just as much as we would like to get to know you, we would also like you to get to know every member in the Scoot family that is working hard to get Scoot up and away in the coming months.

First up, let me introduce our Chief Pilot, Captain Rohan, who’s going to get us started…

1. How would you explain what you do in 100 words or less?

In the capacity of Head Flight Operations/ Chief Pilot, I am entrusted with the care of the Flight Operations Department, with the capable and competent assistance of 2 deputy Chief Pilots. Our foremost challenge at the present time is the attainment of the Air Operators Certificate which is the prerequisite for commencement of commercial operations. Forming a cadre of pioneer crew follows closely and we are careful to evaluate each and every pilot candidate carefully, bearing in mind suitability for the role and our vision for Scootitude. As part of the set up of operations, we are in the midst of determining strategic partners in the key roles of the provision of Flight Operations Elements and Services which encompass Flight Planning, Rostering, Scheduling amongst other elements.

2. What did do before joining the Scoot Family?

Well, immediately before joining Scoot, I spent about 10 years in SIA Flight Operations Management, on various fleets including the B777, A340 and A330 fleet. Through this experience, I was exposed to both Boeing and Airbus aircraft which is a rare privilege. This time was well spent and I acknowledge the training and exposure provided to me by SIA as the cornerstone in my professional development.

3. How has the journey been so far?

Extremely challenging and stimulating. Being involved in a start-up airline involves close coordination with various professionals from different departments with a common understanding in assuring the complete success in this venture. Of special interest is the exposure to elements in the organisation which might otherwise have not occurred if I chose to remain in my previous portfolio.

4. What about Scoot excites you most?

The chance of doing things our way, being different, being accountable for the decisions we take. Most importantly, being able to forge a unique identity in a challenging environment. We mean business in what we do and are determined to make the best of it. With a bunch of like-minded people in the office, this is assured and I can’t wait for our first flight.

5. What about Scoot do you think will excite our customers the most?

Our refreshing outlook and mantra that the passenger will pay for what he desires. Coupled with our energetic personality and the can do attitude, we look forward to flying that’s safe, on -time and efficient (value for money).

Thank you, Captain Rohan!
